Volleyball Topples Buffalo, 3-1

Revenge was sweet for the Kent State University volleyball team (12-11, 8-6 MAC) as the Golden Flashes cruised to a 16-30, 32-30, 30-25, 30-16 win over the University at Buffalo (10-18, 4-10 MAC) Sunday evening (Nov. 9) in the M.A.C. Center. Earlier in the season, the Bulls took the match 3-2 at Alumni Arena.

Sophomore outside hitter Danielle Holt (Galion, Ohio/Galion) continued on her rampage as she produced 27 kills on a season-best .367 hitting and 12 digs. This is Holts 16th double-double (kills-digs) on the season. Junior Kara Warnke (Aurora, Ohio/Lock Haven) carded 11 kills on one errors for a career-best .476 hitting clip. Sophomore Jenny Weilert (Oswego, Ill./Oswego) also had 11 kills to go along with her match-best five blocks. Freshman Karry Griffin (Selma, Texas/Judson) led with a match-high 14 digs.

Prior to the match, Kent State recognized senior libero Tarrin Pelton (Okemos, Mich./Okemos) as she participated in her final regular season match as a Golden Flash.

Lindsay Matikosh paced Buffalo with 14 kills.

Kent State faces a tough road schedule as they travel to Athens, Ohio Friday, Nov. 14, to face Mid-American Conference (MAC) regular-season champion Ohio University. Match time is 7 p.m.
