DeGrate Named MAC East Player of the Week

KENT, Ohio - Kent State senior guard Melissa DeGrate (Amarillo, Texas/South Plains) has been named this weeks MAC East Division Co-Player of the Week for her performance in the win at Syracuse Saturday. The honor is the first for DeGrate in her career and first for the Golden Flashes this season.
DeGrate scored 19 points and had career-highs with nine rebounds and five 3-pointers as the Golden Flashes handed Syracuse just its second loss of the season. DeGrate was 7-of-12 from the field in the game, including 5-of-7 from the arc overall to go with two steals. DeGrate scored 16 of her game-high 19 points in a phenomenal second half where she hit four 3-pointers, was 6-of-8 from the field and grabbed seven boards.
DeGrate, who is averaging 13.3 points and 5.3 rebounds, shares the weekly award with Miamis Cindi Merrill.
Kent State is back in action at home this Sunday, Dec. 19 as they take on St. Bonaventure at 2 p.m.
