Alexa Golden Named to WBCA Thirty Under 30 List

ATLANTA – Kent State women's basketball assistant coach/recruiting coordinator Alexa Golden has been named a Thirty Under 30 honoree by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), the organization announced Tuesday.
Now in its 11th year, the WBCA Thirty Under 30 program recognizes 30 up-and-coming women's basketball coaches aged 30 and under at all levels of the game. Each honoree has exemplified their involvement in community service, mentorship and impact on others, professional manner, and attitude and professional association involvement.
"We are thrilled that the WBCA has selected Alexa Golden for its Thirty Under 30 program," head coach Fran Recchia said. "Lex's exceptional ability to recruit and build meaningful relationships, combined with her deep basketball knowledge and tireless work ethic, has had a significant impact on our program. She has approached her coaching career with the same competitive energy and strong leadership that defined her playing days at Kent State, while also serving as an outstanding mentor to the young people in our program. Coach Lex is a rising star and truly deserving of this recognition."
Golden has been a member of the coaching staff for the past six seasons and has helped the Golden Flashes to three postseason appearances, including a return to the NCAA Tournament in 2024.
A four-year letterwinner on the court, Golden has been part of the Kent State women's basketball program since the 2015-16 season. After helping the Flashes make two WNIT appearances and a capture the Mid-American Conference East Division title in 2017 during her time as a student-athlete, Golden was immediately hired as a graduate assistant. She was elevated to the director of operations position just a few months later and received another promotion to assistant coach following the season.
