No. 19 Gymnastics Earns Second Place at All-Ohio Championships

The 19th-ranked Kent State University gymnastics team (7-1, 3-0 MAC) placed second at the All-Ohio Championships Sunday afternoon (Feb. 8). The Golden Flashes dropped its first meet by .075 of a point to Ohio State University (7-2, 0-1 Big Ten) 195.450-195.375 and defeated Bowling Green State University (4-3, 2-0 MAC) 195.375-193.725.The Golden Flashes notched a season-best floor score of 49.400, led by sophomore Earline Feugill (Weston, Fla./Weston) and senior Jessie James (Reynoldsburg, Ohio/Reynoldsburg), who tied for first on floor with a 9.950. Feugill also placed fourth on vault with a 9.800.Senior Morgan Wiland (Columbus, Ohio/Hilliard-Davidson), who currently is tied for 11th in the nation on the uneven bars, claimed her fifth consecutive title on the event with a score of 9.900. She also tied with sophomore Carrie Mayle (Fremont, Ohio/St. Josephs) for fourth on beam with a 9.850.Junior April Zentko (Poland, Ohio/Poland) led the Kent State all-arounders for the second straight week as she placed second with a 39.200 composite score. She also placed third on beam with a 9.900. KSU, under the direction of head coach Brice Biggin, are back in action Friday, Feb. 13, as the Golden Flashes face the University of Pittsburgh at 7 p.m.
