LEXINGTON, Ky. — Kent State gymnastics will have three representatives competing at the NCAA Lexington Regional on Friday, April 3, with competition set to begin at 1 p.m. Charlie Behner, Jersey Bingman, and Heidi Schultz earned individual event bids to the regional, which is being hosted in Lexington.
Behner leads the Golden Flashes contingent with bids in two events — vault and uneven bars. She posted a 9.850 NQS on vault and a 9.855 NQS on bars to qualify for both events. On vault, Behner will compete alongside a six-gymnast field that includes Bingman, who earned her bid with a 9.835 NQS.
On bars, Behner enters as one of four competitors alongside Mary Rose Bellan (Ball State, 9.850 NQS), Ashley Szymanski (Ball State, 9.895 NQS), and Lia Kmieciak (Central Michigan, 9.905 NQS).
Schultz rounds out the Kent State trio with a bid on balance beam, where she will compete against a field that also includes Summer Clancy (Illinois, 9.830 NQS), Delaney McMahon (Ball State, 9.865 NQS), and Ashley Szymanski (Ball State, 9.870 NQS).
Friday's competition marks a milestone moment for the Golden Flashes program as it will be the final NCAA Regional appearance for head coach Brice Biggin, who announced his retirement after 35 seasons at the helm of Kent State gymnastics. Biggin closes out his storied tenure having guided the program to consistent postseason success, and seeing three gymnasts earn individual bids to the regional serves as a fitting final chapter for one of the department's most celebrated coaches.
Friday's competition begins at 1 p.m.
