Leary Takes Over As All-Time Strikeout Leader

Leary, a senior, pitched all 8.2 innings and recorded 10 strikeouts in the 2-1 loss against Western Kentucky University to become the schools strikeout leader. She now has 463 career strikeouts, which breaks the previous mark of 458 set by Varsity K Hall of Fame Inductee Carla Brookbank (1991-95). On the weekend, she appeared in three games, making one start while recording a 0.60 earned-run average. She also recorded 15 strikeouts in 11.2 innings, giving up only seven hits.
For the season, Leary holds a 3-2 record with a 1.77 earned-run average. She has appeared in seven games, starting in four and has pitched two complete games while earning one shutout. Leary was named the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Pitcher of the Week for the eighth time in her career Feb. 24.
The KSU softball team (7-4), under the direction of head coach Karen Linder, will travel to Boca Raton, Fla. to compete in the FAU Invitational March 19-21. The Flashes will open against MAC rival University of Akron Friday at 10 a.m.
