Shearer, Csaszar Receive All-MAC Honors

Shearer is just the second sophomore in program history to garner first team honors (Carrie Templin 1995-96), the 13th under head coach Bob Lindsay and the 18th overall. Csaszar becomes a two-time honoree as she also took home second team honors as a sophomore in 2001-02.
Shearer ranks in the MAC top 10 in scoring, rebounding, field goal and free throw percentage in conference games. She averages 14.9 points and 8.1 rebounds in MAC games and 14.3 ppg and 7.7 rpg overall. Shearer saved her best for last, averaging 17.1 ppg and 8.9 rebounds over the last eight games of the season. She was named MAC East Player of the Week Jan. 19, Feb. 23 and March 4 and scored a career-high 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the win over Central Michigan Feb. 7. In the regular season finale at Miami March 2, Shearer recorded 20 points and a career-high 15 rebounds and scored a then career-high 24 points in the earlier win over Miami Jan. 14. She ranks second in the MAC in free throw percentage (.840), has scored in double figures in 21-of-27 games and has seven double-doubles.
Csaszar led the MAC in blocked shots per game (2.70) and ranks among the conference leaders in scoring (11.9 ppg), rebounding (7.8 ppg), free throw percentage (.800) and field goal percentage (.454). A tri-captain, Csaszar was named MAC East Player of the Week Nov. 24, Dec. 15 and Dec. 22. She hit double-figures in scoring 18 times and has six double-doubles. Csaszar scored a season-high 21 points twice against Rhode Island Nov. 25 and Akron Jan. 31 and recorded a career-high 20 rebounds against Northwestern State Dec. 29. She Led the MAC with 73 blocks, ranking 11th nationally, and is three blocks away from KSU single-season blocks record of 76.
The league will formally present Shearer and Csaszar with their awards Tuesday evening at the leagues tournament Tip-Off Banquet at the Hyatt Regency at the Arcade in Cleveland. Voting on the team was conducted by the leagues head coaches.
The No. 3 seed Golden Flashes (19-8, 12-4 MAC), winners of eight straight and 10 of their last 11, will take on the No. 6 seed Marshall Thundering Herd (17-11, 8-8 MAC) in the quarterfinals of the 2004 Kraft MAC Tournament at 7:30 p.m. at Clevelands Gund Arena.
