Sonnanstine Earns Weekly KSU Honor

KENT, Ohio Sophomore pitcher Andy Sonnanstine (Wadsworth, Ohio/Wadsworth) has been named the Kent State University Athletic Department Athlete of the Week for his performance during the week ending April 11.

Sonnanstine, the teams ace, had his best outing of the season, hurling 7.2 innings, allowing just one run on six hits, to go with zero walks and a career-high 13 strikeouts.

The righthander has a team-best five victories on the season and also leads the team in innings pitched (57) and strikeouts (54).

The Golden Flashes dominated the Thundering Herd, out-hitting Marshall University 13-6 en route to the 11-1 victory.

Sonnanstine and the rest of the Golden Flashes are back in action Tuesday, April 13, at the University of Dayton.
