In game one, Miamis offense was potent at the start as the RedHawks scored two quick runs in the first inning as Leslie Macedo scored Jessica Zogaib on a single down the right field line before Bianca Paz touched home on a sacrifice fly from Jacque Molinaro.
The Flashes found their offense in the fourth as they scored three runs on three hits. Freshman pinch runner Jessica Kramb (Findlay, Ohio/St. Wendelin) scored KSUs first run off of senior leftfielder Rachel Testas (Rootstown, Ohio/Hoban) deep single to right field. Then KSU took the lead for good as freshman pitcher Brittney Robinson (LaGrange, Ohio/Keystone) drove in two runs, including the game-winner on a double to centerfield.
Kent State added another run in the fifth as pinch runner Julie Kemesky (Austintown, Ohio/Fitch) scored on a passed ball.
Robinson went 2-for-3 with two RBI and took her eighth victory in the circle while senior pitcher Tracie Logar (McDonald, Ohio/McDonald) recorded her fourth save of the season.
It took extra innings for Kent State to dig themselves out of a similar 2-0 deficit in game two as the Flashes won 6-2 in eight innings.
The RedHawks scored early in the third and fifth inning before the Flashes tied the game in the sixth as Logars single up the middle scored seniors Carrie Eneix (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington) and Kelly Maehl (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy).
With only one out and runners on first and second, KSU pushed the game into the eighth inning as sophomore Ashley Ball (Lebanon, Ohio/Lebanon) tagged Paz then threw Becca Garcia out to Robinson at first base to complete the double play.
The Flashes capitalized on Miami errors as junior pinch hitter Katie Baker (Norton, Ohio/Norton) singled then advanced to second on an error before a catchers interference put senior shortstop Marci Ridenbaugh (Canton, Ohio/South) at first. Another error by the RedHawks third baseman scored pinch runner Abby Molnar (Loveland, Ohio/St. Ursula Academy) for the 3-2 edge. Then Eneix gave the Flashes some nice insurance as she cracked a three-run homer over the scoreboard for the 6-2 win.
Eneix finished 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs while Maehl was 2-for-3 with two runs. Logar notched the win for KSU in the circle, improving to 7-3.
The Golden Flashes will conclude the regular season with a three-game series at Marshall University May 8-9.
