Kinyon Named MAC East Baseball Player of the Week

Kinyon earned the weekly award after hitting .706 (12-for-17) with six scores and seven RBI as Kent State went 3-2 last week. He produced seven extra base hits five doubles and a pair of home runs and finished with a 1.353 slugging percentage.
Kinyon smacked two monster doubles off the left field wall at Jacobs Field to go with an RBI in the 2-1 loss to Cleveland State Monday before going 3-for-4 with a home run, three scores and two RBI in the win at West Virginia on Tuesday. Saturday, Kinyon was 3-for-4 again with two doubles and a run scored in the 5-4 win over the Broncos. He then capped his stellar week going 4-for-6 in two games at Western Michigan Sunday, going 2-for-2 in the first game and 2-for-4 in the second with a three-run homer, a double and four RBI. Kinyon had two or more hits in each of the five contests to increase his hitting streak to 12 games.
On the season, Kinyon is hitting .375 with a team-best 13 home runs, 54 RBI and 17 doubles.
The Golden Flashes (29-23, 12-9 MAC East) will close out the regular season this weekend when they head to Oxford, Ohio for a three-game series with Miami (32-17, 13-6 MAC East) May 21-23. Game times are 3 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The Flashes can win the MAC East with a series sweep and can clinch a MAC Tournament berth by winning two of the three.
