Softball Drops Two at Marshall

The Kent State University softball team (25-18, 14-6 MAC) suffered a pair of tough losses Saturday (May 8) at Marshall University (31-26, 12-11 MAC) at Dot Hicks Field in Huntington, W. Va. The Flashes struggled offensively in both games as the Thundering Herd shut KSU 2-0 and 8-0.
In game one, Kent State notched two hits against MUs Randi Nielson on a pair of doubles from pitchers Brittney Robinson (LaGrange, Ohio/Keystone) and Tracie Logar (McDonald, Ohio/McDonald). Logar fell to 7-4 in the circle while Nielson improved to 13-16.
In the second game, the Flashes tallied two hits by senior Marci Ridenbaugh (Canton, Ohio/South) and sophomore Ashley Ball (Lebanon, Ohio/Lebanon). Senior Kate Leary (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington) pitched five strikeouts and is now 9-8.
Kent State will wrap the three-game series with a single game tomorrow (May 9) against the Herd at 1 p.m.
