Sonnanstine Named To ABCA First Team All-Mideast Region Squad

Sonnanstine set Kent State single-season records in 2004 for wins (11), strikeouts (117) and innings pitched (125.0) and recorded a 2.52 ERA while walking only 21 batters in those 125.0 innings of work.
After garnering 2004 First Team All-Mid-American Conference honors, Sonnanstine tossed two complete games at the MAC tournament in May to lead the Golden Flashes to their fifth tournament title and seventh NCAA tournament appearance in program history. He struck out 21 batters, the second most in MAC tournament history, in 18.0 innings of work to earn tournament co-MVP honors.
Sonnanstine then continued his dominance in the opening game of the 2004 South Bend Regional, striking out seven in 7.0 innings, giving up one unearned run as the Flashes upset top-seeded and fifth-ranked Notre Dame, 2-1.
Sonnanstine was selected by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in the 13th round of the 2004 First-Year Player Draft June 7. Sonnanstine was the fourth pick in the 13th round and the 375th overall.
