Soccer Opens 2004 with 4-0 Win at Cleveland State

The Kent State University soccer team kicked off the 2004-05 athletic schedule at Kent State with a 4-0 victory at Cleveland State tonight.s Freshman Brittany Fracaso did not take long to make her mark with the Golden Flashes, scoring the first goal of the season and adding an assist on the second.
It took just over 12 minutes to get on the scoreboard as Fracasso scored off a scramble in the box after sophomore Danie Irwin crossed the ball into the area.s Under eight minutes later, Fracasso served the ball on a corner kick that freshman Kimberly Dimitroff headed home for the first goal of her career.
The Golden Flashes carried the 2-0 lead into the half, then extended the lead when senior Nikki Lichtenfeld converted a penalty kick in the 62nd minute.s Freshman Amy Kessler closed out the scoring in the 65th minute, off a cross from the right side by Jen Frey.
Sophomore Alicia Fernandez earned the win in goal, playing 72:16 and making one save.s Former KSU softball star Marci Ridenbaugh made her soccer debut, playing 9:37 in goal.
The shutout was the sixth in the last 10 games dating back to last season.s The Golden Flashes, 2003 Mid-American Conference regular season champions, open their home schedule, Sunday, August 29, at 1 p.m. against Youngstown State.
