Box ScoreAfter dropping the first game 28-30, the Kent State University volleyball team (4-4, 1-0 MAC) took the next three games 30-23, 30-16, 30-18 to win its Mid-American Conference opener (MAC) against Central Michigan University (4-9, 1-2 MAC) Saturday night (Sept. 25). Senior Ruth Ladurner-Schnitzer (Lana, Italy/Franz Kafka) led the Flashes with 16 kills on a season-best .542 hitting. Junior Danielle Holt (Galion, Ohio/Galion) finished with 15 kills and three aces while sophomore Sarah Wilber (Huron, Ohio/Huron) chipped in 11 kills.KSUs defense compiled 11 blocks, led by Schnitzers seven, tying a career-high. Freshman Anne Zakelj (Willoughby, Ohio/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) tied a season-best with six blocks, including two solos. Freshman Laura Jensen (Apple Valley, Minn./Burnsville) led Kent State with 10 digs.Kent State begins a four-match homestand Tuesday, Sept. 28 against the University of Toledo. Match time is 7 p.m.
