Markwart recorded her second shutout of the season in a 2-0 win at Ohio University Sunday in Athens. Markwart recorded seven saves on the day, all in the second half as Kent State snapped a four-game losing skid and improved to 1-0 in the conference. Markwart and the Kent State defense held Ohio scoreless despite 10 second half penalty corners by the Bobcats.
Markwart (3-5) has played every minute in goal this season for the Flashes, recording 56 saves to compliment her two shutouts.
Markwart and the rest of the Flashes (3-5, 1-0 MAC) will conclude their six-game road stretch when they travel to Louisville and Miami next weekend. The Flashes will face the Cardinals next Friday, Oct. 1 at 1 p.m. before heading up to face the RedHawks Saturday, Oct. 2 at 3 p.m.
