Soccer Ties Montana 1-1

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The Kent State soccer team (2-0-1) allowed its first goal of the season, but still managed to come away with a 1-1 draw with Montana in the opening game of the 2004 UNLV FILA Classic here today (Sept. 3).s The Golden Flashes will play Northern Arizona in Sunday's final game of the tournament.
Freshman forward Kimberly Dimitroff scored her third goal in as many games, picking up KSU's lone goal.s She tallied in the 19th minute, avoiding two defenders before depositing the ball into the right side of the net.s Her goal would not be enough, though, as Tara Schwager scored in the 43rd minute.
The teams would then play another another 60 minutes without a goal.s Montana would have the better chances with 20 shots to KSU's 11 in the contest.s Sophomore goalkeeper Alicia Fernandez kept the Golden Flashes in the contest by making 11 saves.s Her record moved to 2-0-1 on the year.
Kent State's game against Northern Arizona Sunday, Sept. 5, begins at 2 p.m. PT.
