Field Hockey Sweeps MAC Honors For Second Time in Three Weeks

KENT, Ohio -- For the second time in three weeks, the Kent State field hockey team swept the weekly Mid-American Conference awards following a perfect weekend that saw the Flashes with their fifth and sixth straight league games and move into first place in the league standings.
Junior forward Liz Fettrow (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) was named the MAC Offensive Player of the Week. Fettrow totaled three goals in the two games over the weekend. She had two in the Flashes' 4-2 victory over Missouri State on Friday and then scored the game's only goal in a 1-0 win on Sunday over Ohio.
Classmate and goalkeeper Linz Markwart (Miller Place, N.Y./Miller Place) won MAC Defensive Player of the Week honors for the second time this season. she posted a 2-0 record and made six saves over the weekend. It also marked the third straight week a KSU goalkeeper won POTW honors (Markwart-Oct. 10, Kara Copeland- Oct. 17).
The Golden Flashes (6-12, 6-2 MAC) will look to win their third straight MAC regular season title this week when they close out the regular season with a pair of road games at Ball State and Central Michigan Thursday and Friday.
