Meet ResultsThe Kent State University gymnastics team (6-2) used a sweep of the top finishes in three events along with a season-best floor score to power past Southeast Missouri State University (3-5) 195.300-193.025 Sunday afternoon (Feb. 20) at the M.A.C. Center.On vault, Mayle won with a 9.800 while senior Earline Feugill (Weston, Fla./Western) tied for second with a 9.725.Freshman Kristin Peters (Maineville, Ohio/Kings) led the sweep on bars, taking top honors with a 9.825. Freshman Amy Presan (Scottsdale, Ariz./Horizon) finished second with a season-best 9.775 while Huynh took third with a 9.725.Kent State continued dominance on beam as senior Erika Linnersten (Cincinnati, Ohio/Finneytown) claimed third beam title of the season with a score of 9.850. Senior April Zentko (Poland, Ohio/Poland) registered a 9.800 for second place while freshman Jill Kowalski (Carol Stream, Ill./Glenbard North) notched a season-best 9.775 for third place.On floor, four Flashes set or tied career-highs on the way to a season-best 49.450 on the event. KSU was led by sophomore Amy Cucinotta (Williamsville, N.Y./Amherst Central) and freshman Phylicia Robertson (Lincoln, Neb./Lincoln), who tied for first with a 9.925 apiece. The score tied a personal-best for Cucinotta and set a career-best for Robertson. Junior Carrie Mayle (Fremont, Ohio/St. Josephs) recorded a career-high tying 9.900 for third place while sophomore Julie Huynh (Brentwood, N.Y./Brentwood) tallied a career-best 9.850 to tie for fourth place with freshman Alyssa Zambryckij (Casselberry, Fla./Lyman).Kent State heads back on the road to take on league foe Northern Illinois University, Sunday, Feb. 27, at 2 p.m. CT.
