Gymnastics Finishes Fourth at Eagle Classic

Meet ResultsNo. 18 Kent State University gymnastics team (8-7, 4-2 MAC) tallied a 192.975 team score to place fourth out of four teams at the Eagle Classic hosted by Eastern Michigan University March 12. West Virginia University won the meet with a score of 194.850, followed by Eastern Michigan (194.175) and No. 20 Southern Utah University (193.900).The Flashes were led by senior Erika Linnersten (Cincinnati, Ohio/Finneytown), who claimed her sixth beam title of the season, tying for first with a 9.900. She also tied for fifth on bars with a 9.775. Junior Carrie Mayle (Fremont, Ohio/St. Josephs) placed third on beam (9.850) and third all-around (38.875) and freshman Phylicia Robertson (Lincoln, Neb./Lincoln) tied for second on floor with a 9.875. Senior April Zentko (Poland, Ohio/Poland) also tied for fifth on beam with a 9.800.Kent State will close the regular season at the M.A.C. Center Saturday, March 19 against Bowling Green State University and Ohio State University at the All-Ohio Meet. Meet time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
