Game Two Of Kent State-Ball State Cancelled

Ball State jumped on the scoreboard first with a pair of runs in thebottom of the first before Kent State took its first lead of the game inthe third as sophomore CF Sarah Durkalski (Kent, Ohio/Roosevelt) RBIdouble, scored junior 2B Ashley Ball (Lebanon, Ohio/Lebanon). Afterfreshman SS Jessica Toocheck (Medina, Ohio/Medina) reached on an error bythe Cardinals 2B, junior C Ashley Fairhurst (Tallmadge, Ohio/Tallmadge)drove in Durkalski and Toocheck on a line drive to center field to put theFlashes up 3-2.
BSU fought right back to tie the score 3-3 in the bottom half of theinning on a sacrifice fly from Taylor Yancey.
The tug-of-war battle went back into Kent State's favor in the fourthas Durkalski's sacrifice fly, scored senior LF/PR Julie Kemesky(Youngstown, Ohio/Fitch) for the 4-3.
After the first delay lasted 45 minutes in the bottom of the fourth,sophomore 1B Megan Verde (Massillon, Ohio/Jackson) cracked a two-out soloshot to put the Flashes up 5-3 score in the fifth before the second delayensued.
Kent State, under the direction of head coach Karen Linder, facescrosstown rival University of Akron at Firestone Stadium April 23-24.
