Kent State Falls to Ole Miss 2-0

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Kent State University soccer team completed its trip to the state of Florida with a 2-0 loss to Mississippi here today (Sept. 5) in a game that was part of the UCF Women's Soccer Invitational. The Golden Flashes fell to 2-2 on the year, while Ole Miss improved to 4-0.
Freshman Kristen Nelson started her first career contest in goal for Kent State and made three saves. She was tested early as Ole Miss got on the scoreboard in the 12th minute as Kelly Renie redirected a shot into the right corner.
The score would stay 1-0 until the 77th minute when Amy Bayles scored to give Ole Miss a 2-0 advantage. In the contest the Rebels outshot Kent State 11-8, but the Flashes put more shots on goal (6-5) than Ole Miss.
Following the contest, senior back Wendy Gamble and sophomore midfielder Lisa Kurz were named to the all-tournament team.
The Golden Flashes are next in action when they compete at the Northwestern Tournament, Sept. 9-11. Kent State will take on Davidson and Oakland in Evanston, Ill.
