Flashes lose a pair to NC State

In the first game, Kent State was held to one hit, a single by junior Megan Verde, in losing their third consecutive game.
Junior pitcher Brittney Robinson went the distance limiting the Wolfpack to four hits while striking out five and walking four.
The Wolfpack got their runs on an RBI double in the third and on a solo home run in the fifth.
In the second game, Kent State managed just two hits while striking out 13 times versus NC State.
Sophomore Gabrielle Burns went 4.2 innings allowing five runs, two earned, and striking out five. She was replaced by senior Erin Christopher who finished the final 1.1 innings.
NC State, after scoring single runs in the third and fourth innings, put the game away in the fifth with three runs on three hits.
Kent State scored its only run in the top of the sixth when, following singles by sophomores Jamie Fitzpatrick and Whitney Lebowitz, senior Ashley Ball doubled to left to score Fitzpatrick. The Flashes then loaded the bases with no outs, but could not push any more runs home.
Kent State (9-14) opens Mid-American Conference play when the Golden Flashes host a doubleheader versus the University of Toledo beginning at 1 p.m.on Friday, March 31.
