Women's Basketball Faces Ball State in MAC Quarterfinals at The Q Wednesday

KENT, Ohio--The Kent State University womens basketball team opens postseason play against Ball State University, beginning its quest for a league championship and automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament in the quarterfinal round of the 2006 Kraft Mid-American Conference Tournament on Wednesday, Mar. 8, at Quicken Loans Arena in Downtown Cleveland, Ohio. The Golden Flashes and Cardinals will tip off at 3 p.m.
QUICK FLASHES
Kent State (19-9, 12-4 MAC) earned a first round bye after finishing the regular season in second place in the East Division. The Golden Flashes closed out the campaign by winning six of their last seven games and carry a two-game winning streak into the MAC Tournament. In their last game on Tuesday, Feb. 28, the Flashes defeated the University at Buffalo on the road, 73-59, in the regular season finale.
Ball State (17-11, 9-7 MAC) advanced to the quarterfinals with a 71-46 victory at home over the University of Akron on Saturday afternoon, March 4. The Cardinals finished third in the MAC West during the regular season, dropping two of their last three contests. Overall Ball State is 4-4 in its last eight games.
The two teams met earlier this season, with Kent State posting a 68-55 victory on Feb. 8 at the M.A.C. Center in Kent. Despite splitting the last four meetings, Kent State still leads the all-time series 33-10.
