Hamilton's walk-off home run downs Falcons

Kent State got on the board on a solo home run by junior pitcher Brittney Robinson (LaGrange, Ohio/Keystone) in the bottom of the second.
Bowling Green tied the game in the top of the third when Hayley Wiemer, who walked, and moved to third on an error, scored on an error on a ball hit by Jeanine Baca.
The Falcons took the lead in the top of the fourth when Desiree Miller led off the inning with a walk. Megan McPherson, who pinch ran for Miller, stole second. She was moved to third on a ground out to second and scored on a double to left center by Ashley Zirkle.
The Golden Flashes tied the game on an RBI single by sophomore Jamie Fitzpatrick (Cartersville, Ga./Woodland) to score classmate Corey Houk (Hebron, Ohio/Lakewood). Houk had reached on an error and moved to second on a ground out.
Hamilton smacked a curve ball deep over the centerfield wall to extend the Flashes winning streak against conference opponents to 10. Her blast also extended KSUs record-setting home run total to 53.
Robinson (28-11, 18-1 MAC) went the distance limiting Bowling Green to three hits while striking out five. She raised her record-setting strikeout total to 385.
The Golden Flashes (30-22, 18-5 MAC) will play a third round tournament game at 7:30 pm on Friday (5/12).
