Flashes lose to Sooners 1-0

The Kent State University softball team lost to the 18th ranked Oklahoma Sooners 1-0 in the first game of the NCAA Softball Tournament at Alumni Field on the campus of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
The Golden Flashes were hitless until senior Ashley Ball (Lebanon, Ohio/Lebanon) singled past shortstop with two outs in the top of the seventh inning.
Junior pitcher Brittney Robinson (LaGrange, Ohio/Keystone) limited the Sooners to four hits, while striking out two, in six innings.
Oklahoma got on the board with the game's only run in the bottom of the first inning on an RBI single by Samantha Ricketts to score Norelle Dickson, who led off the inning with a single to rightfield.
The Golden Flashes (32-23, 16-5 MAC) will battle Youngstown State University at 2:30 pm on Saturday (5/20). Live play-by-play action can be heard on the KSU website as Tom Linder will call the action.
