Flashes Welcome RedHawks to M.A..C. Center

• The Kent State University women's basketball team returns home to face Miami University Saturday (Jan.13), at the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center. The Golden Flashes (6-8, 2-1 MAC) and RedHawks (9-7, 3-0) will begin action at 2 p.m., as they battle for position in the top half of the Mid-American Conference East Division standings.
• The Golden Flashes are 3-0 at the M.A.C. Center this season, where they have won 23 of their last 24 home games. The RedHawks are 4-4 on the road this year.
• No. 18 Bowling Green won its 28th straight game against a MAC opponent Wednesday (Jan. 10), knocking off Kent State 74-52 at Anderson Arena . La'kia Stewart led the Golden Flashes with 11 points and 10 rebounds for her second double-double in three games.
• Miami has won four straight since Dec. 30, including a 79-73 victory over Akron Wednesday night in Oxford. Jenna Schonne led the RedHawks with 27 points and six assists, while Ashley Hawkins went 9-of-12 from the field for 20 points.
• Kent State has won the last five meetings with Miami including a two-game series sweep last season. The Flashes lead the all-time series 33-32.

DOUBLE TROUBLE
Senior forward La'kia Stewart racked up her fourth double-double of the season and 12th of her career Wednesday at Bowling Green. It was her second double-double in three games and the fifth time in six games Stewart reached double figures in scoring. In three conference games, she is averaging 13.7 points and 10.0 boards per game.
Senior center Tiffany LaFleur has notched three double-doubles this season, with two of her three coming in the same games as Stewart.
During the opening weekend of the season at the Fifth Third Classic, Stewart tallied 11 points and 13 rebounds against Southern to help the Flashes to a third place finish, while LaFleur notched 11 points and 11 rebounds vs, Robert Morris.
Both players claimed their second double-double of the season vs. St. Francis and their third last week vs. Ohio.
STARTING STRONG IN LEAGUE PLAY
Despite dropping three of its final four non-conference games, Kent State opened Mid-American Conference play 2-0 with wins over Ohio (76-63) and Akron (79-47).
Seven KSU players finished with eight or more points against the Bobcats. The Flashes defeated the Bobcats for the fifth straight time overall and 15th straight at the M.A.C. Center.
In the victory over Akron, La'kia Stewart scored a team-high 16 points and blocked a career-high four shots as the Flashes had a season-high seven blocks.
Akron's 47 points was the lowest total by a KSU opponent this season. As a team, the Golden Flashes shot a season-best .491 from the field. Kent State extended its winnng streak against Akron to 15 games and leads the all-time series with the Zips 40-4.
