“What we're looking for is that we want to see where we're at as a team as far as being ready for the season. It's going to give us an opportunity to see how the girls perform in front of judges and how they compete in front of a crowd,” said 2007 Mid-American Conference Head Coach of the Year Brice Biggin.

“[The meet] will show us what we need to work on in the upcoming months before we actually start [the regular season]. We feel [the team] is headed in the right direction but until they actually get out there and start competing and actually do their routines it's always a little bit of a surprise. We feel like we have the ability to be a great team and Friday will certainly tell us a lot about that,” added Biggin.
Looking ahead this year on the vault, Coach Biggin said, “We're really looking to be stronger on vault this year than last year. We got some really good freshman vaulters that have come in and have done a really good job. Also, our returning athletes have done a really good job of increasing their difficulty. As a whole, we expect to be much better on vault.”
On the uneven parallel bars, “Our numbers are about the same as last year. Talent wise, we are just as strong if not a little bit stronger, said Biggin. Assistant Coach Kurt Hettinger added, “I believe we are equally as strong. We just have to take care of our depth. If we are going to do well, we just need to stay healthy.”
“On beam, we are returning five of the six starters from last year from a team that did well,” said Biggin. We need to find a sixth person to really help solidify that lineup. I believe there are a number of athletes who have that potential.”
Coach Biggin feels the floor exercises will provide the most depth for the Golden Flashes. “We've really worked hard on increasing their tumbling skills... The girls have really looked good [in practice].”
