The Kent State University women's basketball team (14-12, 10-5 MAC) will close out its 2006-07 regular season Wednesday night against the University at Buffalo (10-17, 5-10 MAC) at the M.A.C. Center. Tip-off with the Bulls is slated for 7 p.m.
• With a KSU victory on Wednesday or an Ohio loss vs. Akron, the Golden Flashes would clinch second place in the Mid-American Conference East Division and earn a first round bye at the 2007 Kraft MAC Tournament. A Buffalo victory combined with an Ohio win would give the Bobcats the #2 seed by virtue of conference tiebreakers.
• The Golden Flashes sealed their 16th consecutive season of 10 or more league wins with an 86-76 victory over Miami Saturday (Feb. 24) at Millett Hall. KSU also wrapped up a winning record (14-12) during the regular season for the 17th straight year.
• La'kia Stewart led five Golden Flashes in double figures with 16 points at Miami and was one rebound shy of recording her eighth double-double of the year. Sarah Burgess scored 13 points, her most since Dec. 15 and dished out a season-high six assists.
• Buffalo completed a season sweep of Akron with a 65-59 road victory Saturday (Feb. 24) at Rhodes Arena. The Bulls held the Zips to just 18 first-half points. Heather Turner led UB with 15 points, six rebounds and three steals.
• Kent State has never lost to Buffalo in 18 all-time meetings. The Flashes are 9-0 against the Bulls at the M.A.C. Center, having won every home game by nine or more points, including a 73-56 victory last season in Kent.
• Earlier this season (Jan. 17), Buffalo took Kent State down to the wire at Alumni Arena, but a layup by Kristin Peoples in the game's final minute lifted the Golden Flashes to a 72-69 triumph. La'kia Stewart went 8-for-10 from the field as KSU shot a season-high 55 percent (30-55) from the floor. Peoples and Stewart each scored a game-high 17 points. Rachelle Matthys led the Bulls with 16 points.
