Flashes drop a doubleheader to Penn State

Kent State dropped a doubleheader to host Penn State University 3-0 and 3-1 on Wednesday (4/11) afternoon in University Park, Pennsylvania.
In the first game, PSU broke a scoreless tie with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth inning against starting pitcher Kylie Reynolds (Greensboro, Ga./Morgan County).
The Nittany Lions added a run in the bottom of the sixth to complete the scoring.
KSU senior second baseman Jessica Kramb (Findlay, Ohio/St. Wendelin) smacked a pair of hits in two at bats to pace the Golden Flashes.
Reynolds finished with eight hits allowed, three earned runs, and six strikeouts in six innings.
In the second game, Kent State took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first when junior first baseman Jamie Fitzpatrick (Cartersville, Ga./Woodland) doubled to score classmate Kim Hamilton (Cave Junction, Oregon/Illinois Valley) who had led off the inning with a walk.
Penn State took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the first on a two-run home run.
The Lions added a single tally in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Senior third baseman Megan Verde (Massillon, Ohio/Jackson) led the KSO offense with two hits in three at bats.
Senior pitcher Brittney Robinson (LaGrange, Ohio/Keystone) took the loss as she allowed seven hits and three earned runs in six innings.
Kent State (17-13, 4-0 MAC) hosts a doubleheader with the University of Akron on Friday (4/13).
