KENT, OHIO The Golden Flashes return to action at home on Wednesday as they host local rival Youngstown State in non-league play at the KSU Soccer Field. KSU is looking to end a two game home losing streak, the longest since the 2005 season.
• Senior Kimberly Dimitroff set a school record with the quickest goal in program history against Pitt on Sunday. Dimitroff's header just 24 seconds into the contest broke her own previous mark of 53 seconds achieved last season in a win over Buffalo.
• Junior goalie Kris Nelson made eight stops against Pitt, recording her second highest save total this season.
• The Golden Flashes cracked the win column last Friday at St. Bonaventure with a 2-1 win over the Bonnies.
• In the victory over St. Bonaventure senior Lisa Kurz scored the first goal of the season for the Golden Flashes, ending a 389:26 scoreless streak for the team dating back to last season. Kurz had also scored the last goal for KSU with a game winning penalty kick in double overtime against Western Michigan in the 2006 MAC Quarterfinals.
• KSU holds a 5-1 series advantage in head to head match-ups with Youngstown State. The Golden Flashes have won five straight after falling to the Penguins 3-1 in 1997 in KSU's first varsity season.
• After attempting just 11 shots combined in the first two games, the Golden Flashes have averaged 12 shots a game in the last three outings, scoring three goals.
• Youngstown State enters the day at 1-5-0 on the year and earned the first victory of the season on Sunday against Howard (5-1). Freshman Lauren Brennan tied the school's record for most goals in a game with four against the Bison. Brennan shares the honor with Kim Jugenheimer, who established the record in 2003 against Delaware State. Brennan also broke the school's record for most points in a game with nine.
• Three of the seven home wins in 2006 were in double overtime. Overall the Golden Flashes have a 15-7-3 record in overtime at home, having lost just twice since the 1999 campaign.
• Since the inception of the program in 1997, the Golden Flashes have gone 56-31-4 (.637) at home.
• Next up for Kent State is a road trip out East as the Golden Flashes take on Maryland on Saturday at 7:00 pm.
