The Golden Flashes look to extend their streak of five straight MAC Tournament appearances with just three regular season games remaining this year. Currently tied for 10th place, KSU travels to Bowling Green on Friday and Toledo on Sunday.
Last Time Out
Kent State played Northern Illinois to a 1-1 tie at the KSU Soccer Field last Sunday. Caitlin Hester scored her team leading fourth goal of the season and for the third time this year on her own throw-in.
Tracking Bowling Green
The Falcons had a three game winning streak stopped last weekend with 2-0 losses at Central Michigan and at Eastern Michigan. Bowling Green enters this weekend in a three-way tie for fifth in the MAC at 4-3-1. Corbie Yee leads the team with five goals and 12 total points, while goalie Alexa Arsenault has nine shutouts.
Friday's game marks Kent State's first trip to Bowling Green since the 2005 MAC Championship game - won by the Falcons on penalty kicks (3-2) after a scoreless 110 minutes.
Kent State trails the all-time series 3-8-3.
Tracking Toledo
The Rockets have won five straight vaulting them into second place in the MAC standings at 6-2-0. Led by Molly Cornwell (4G; 4A) Toledo is 6--0 at home and has an 11-4-0 overall record.
Kent State leads the all-time series 8-4-1. Last season the Golden Flashes earned a 1-0 win at home, but fell 4-3 at Toledo in the MAC Tournament quarterfinals.
Hester Throwing Them In
Senior Caitlin Hester has scored off her own flip throw-in three times this season and leads the team with four goals. The Worthington, Ohio native also has a team best six assists, ranking her second in the MAC this fall.
Her six assists are tied for the fourth most in a single season by a KSU player and are the most since Jen Frey had eight in 2004.
Getting Their Kicks
Kent State has outshot their last four opponents by a 79-50 count, averaging 19.5 shots per match during the stretch. In MAC play the Golden Flashes rank third in the league with 15.3 shots per game.
Consecutive Cassie
Senior Cassie Seten is the program's active leader in games played (76) and has now made 51 consecutive starts for the Blue and Gold.
Rough on the Road
The Golden Flashes have found the road quite unkind this season having scored just four the the 18 goals away from the KSU Soccer Field. All four goals have been scored by a different player for Kent State.
