Reynolds Named Pitcher of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio-
Kent State sophomore ace Kyle Reynolds (Greensboro, Ga./Morgan County) was named Mid-American Conference East Division Pitcher of the Week Tuesday (March 18) by the conference office. The right-hander returned to her home state this past weekend and tossed a pair of complete game victories at the Owl Classic hosted by Kennesaw State.
In two games, Reynolds allowed just one run (0.58 ERA) over 12 innings. She totaled 23 strikeouts and allowed just four walks and six hits.
Reynolds hurled a seven-inning two-hit shutout Sunday (March 16) in KSU's 4-0 victory over Birmingham Southern. Both Panther hits were singles with one coming on a bunt. She fanned 13 Birmingham Southern batters, helping end the Panthers' three-game winning streak.
In an 11-1 Kent State victory over Alabama State on Saturday, Reynolds threw all five innings and struck out 10. She surrendered her only run with two outs in the fifth innng and did not allow a hit until the third.
In her last five appearances, Reynolds is 4-0 with a save and a 1.12 ERA. On the year, she leads the team in victories (6-2) and strikeouts (83).
The 2007 MAC Pitcher of the Year and MAC Freshman of the Year, Reynolds has already earned 20 career victories. In 39 career appearances, the sophomore carries a 1.40 ERA with 337 strikeouts.
The Golden Flashes have now captured the MAC East Pitcher of the Week honor four times from three different hurlers this season. Gabrielle Burns claimed the award twice, while Markie Pozzuto got the nod following the first week of the season.
Kent State will take No. 2 Alabama and Tennessee-Chattanooga Wednesday (March 18) before returning to Georgia this weekend (March 20-22) for matchups with the host Bulldogs and Albany at the Georgia Softball Spring Fling.
