CLEVELAND, Ohio-
Kent State sophomore Kylie Reynolds (Greensboro, Ga./Morgan County) earned Mid-American Conference East Division Pitcher of the Week honors for the second time this season Tuesday (April 1) as announced by the conference office. Golden Flash hurlers have now garnered Pitcher of the Week awards following all six weeks of KSU's competition.
In her three starts last week, Reynolds went 3-0 with two complete games and one shutout. Her complete game shutout came in KSU's 1-0 win over Toledo Saturday, March 29. She allowed just two hits against the Rockets and struck out nine.
Reynolds fanned 29 batters over 20 innings on the week, including 10 strikeouts over five frames in a win against Robert Morris on March 26. She also tossed a three-hit, complete game victory over Bowling Green on March 28.
The 2007 MAC Pitcher of the Year improved to 10-4 on the season and is tied for the conference lead in victories. Her 125 strikeouts on the year leads the league and she has also notched a pair of saves in relief appearances.
Two weeks ago, Reynolds captured her first Pitcher of the Week award this season on March 18, following two complete game victories. Teammates Gabrielle Burns (3 times) and Markie Pozzuto have also claimed Pitcher of the Week honors this season. The KSU pitching staff's 1.56 ERA is the lowest in the league.
The Golden Flashes (20-8, 3-1) will continue Mid-American Conference play this weekend with a doubleheader at Akron Friday (April 4) and single games at Ohio Saturday and Sunday (April 5 & 6).
