Reynolds Named Kent State Athlete of the Week

Sophomore right-hander Kylie Reynolds (Greensboro, Ga./Morgan County) went 2-0 with a save this past week to earn Kent State Athlete of the Week honors. On the weekend, the Golden Flashes swept Ball State and Miami and have an overall record of 31-9 and lead the Mid-American Conference with a 14-2 mark.
In a 2-1, extra-inning affair against Ball State on Friday, Reynolds threw all nine innings to receive the win. She allowed just one unearned run on six hits and one walk while striking out 14. In the second game, Reynolds appeared in relief with no outs and the bases full with Kent State clinging to a one-run lead. She did not allow another run to cross the plate in the inning and retired the side in order in the seventh for her third save of the year.
On Saturday against Miami, Reynolds threw another complete game and only allowed two unearned runs on three hits while striking out 11 in a Kent State 3-2 win.
For the season, Reynolds is 16-4 with three saves. Only allowing 75 hits and 27 earned runs in 136.2 innings pitched, Reynolds has an ERA of 1.38. She leads the team with 14 complete games. Reynolds has not allowed an earned run to score in the last 39 innings pitched.
Kent State returns to action Wednesday when it hosts Penn State for a double-header. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 3 p.m.
