Jock Jams
• Jock Jams is a lip-syncing and dancing competition where the student-athletes compete to raise money for the American Cancer Society. As a favorite of the student-athletes, Jock Jams annually raises well over $3,000 for cancer research.
Akron Children's Hospital Visits
• Twice monthly, KSU student-athletes travel to Akron Children's Hospital to visit with the patients. The children truly enjoy the visits and make frequent requests for the athletes to stop by their rooms. Athletes entertain the children with impromptu soccer games, passing out KSU trinkets to the patients, or simply just sitting down to have a talk.
Elementary School Visits
• Frequently, KSU athletics receive requests for student-athletes to speak at area elementary schools. Assembly topics have included: what it's like to be a college student-athlete, leadership, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The student-athletes enjoy visiting the elementary schools just as much as the kids enjoy hearing them speak.
Team Charity Events
• Each varsity athletic team holds an annual charity event to raise money for various organizations. Examples include the gymnastics team's “Flip for the Cure”, a pink event raising money for breast cancer research. The baseball team annually hosts the “Diamond Classic for Kids”, a game between KSU and UA at Aeros Stadium, raising money for Akron Children's Hospital.
