
Golden Flashes Set Academic Records Across Multiple Programs in Spring 2026 Semester

KENT, Ohio – Kent State Athletics continued its remarkable academic excellence during the Spring 2026 semester, with student-athletes achieving a 3.435 term GPA and a 3.419 cumulative GPA across the department. The Golden Flashes placed numerous student-athletes on the Dean's List and President's List, with every team posting a cumulative GPA above 3.0.
Multiple teams set program records and achieved outstanding academic milestones throughout the semester.
Academic Highlights
- Baseball posted the highest in-season semester GPA in program history and the second-highest cumulative GPA in program history (3.406 and 3.459), with 14 student-athletes named to the Dean's List and two earning President's List honors.
- Field Hockey set a new program record for the highest semester GPA in program history (3.720) for the fourth consecutive semester, while also recording the second-highest cumulative GPA in program history (3.679). Seventeen student-athletes were named to the Dean's List, and two earned President's List honors.
- Football achieved the highest term GPA in program history and the second-highest cumulative GPA in program history (3.214 and 3.142), marking the seventh consecutive semester with a term GPA above 3.0 and a cumulative GPA above 3.0. Twenty-five student-athletes were named to the Dean's List, and one earned President's List honors.
- Gymnastics demonstrated strong academic performance, with 70% of the team earning a semester GPA of 3.4 or higher, placing 15 student-athletes on the Dean's List and one on the President's List (3.570 semester, 3.526 cumulative).
- Lacrosse posted the highest cumulative GPA in program history (3.670) and an outstanding semester GPA of 3.709, with 91% of the team at a 3.4 or higher semester GPA. The team placed 17 student-athletes on the Dean's List and six on the President's List.
- Men's Basketball recorded the second-highest cumulative GPA in program history (3.075), with two student-athletes named to the Dean's List and one earning President's List honors, marking back-to-back years with a 3.0 average GPA.
- Men's Cross Country posted solid results with 75% of the team at a 3.0 or higher semester GPA and four student-athletes named to the Dean's List (3.211 semester, 3.275 cumulative).
- Men's Golf demonstrated strong academic performance with 55% of the team earning Dean's List recognition and two perfect 4.0 GPAs (3.433 semester, 3.442 cumulative).
- Men's Track & Field recorded the second-highest semester GPA and the highest cumulative GPA in program history (3.367 and 3.322), with 18 student-athletes named to the Dean's List, two earning President's List honors.
- Soccer posted the second-highest semester GPA and second-highest cumulative GPA in program history (3.731 and 3.704), with 14 student-athletes named to the Dean's List and six earning President's List honors.
- Softball excelled, with one student-athlete on the President's List and 10 on the Dean's List (3.551 semester, 3.549 cumulative).
- Volleyball set a new program record for the highest term GPA in program history, breaking a 28-year-old record from 1998, and the highest cumulative GPA in program history (3.764 and 3.659). Ten student-athletes were named to the Dean's List, and four earned President's List honors.
- Women's Basketball posted strong results with every member of the team above a 3.0 semester GPA, including four perfect 4.0s. Six student-athletes made the Dean's List, and two earned President's List honors (3.679 semester, 3.599 cumulative).Â
- Women's Cross Country posted outstanding semester and cumulative GPAs (3.588 and 3.736), with 81% of the team earning either the President's List or the Dean's List.
- Women's Golf saw 78% of the team post a 3.0 or higher semester GPA, with four Dean's List honorees and one President's List recipient (3.425 semester, 3.484 cumulative).
- Women's Track & Field achieved academic excellence for the seventh consecutive semester with a 3.5-plus cumulative team GPA (3.499 semester, 3.551 cumulative), placing 25 student-athletes on the Dean's List.
- Wrestling recorded the third-highest semester and cumulative GPA in program history (3.248 and 3.260), placing 13 student-athletes on the Dean's List and two each on the President's List and in additional recognition categories.
