KENT, Ohio -
Coming off its best season in school history, the Kent State softball team will begin its fall exhibition season Friday (Sept. 19) at rival Akron at 4 p.m. The very next day the Golden Flashes will head to Ashland University.
"It's exciting to get back out on the field," Head Coach Karen Linder said. "Our goals are the same, but it's a new year and a new challenge."
That challenge will continue Sept. 27 and 28, when the Golden Flashes host the Kent State University Invitational. The Flashes will take on Pittsburgh, Ohio State, Cleveland State and Walsh during the 17-team tournament.
"The fall season will be the start of us proving that Kent State softball competes at the highest level no matter who is out on the field," Linder said. "A lot of returning players will have the chance to step up, earn starting positions and take on bigger roles. It will take time to develop a core group of leaders and keys players, but this is their chance to start proving themselves."
On Oct. 5, the Golden Flashes will head to Columbus to play in the Ohio State Charity Classic. During Homecoming weekend, KSU will host its annual Almni Game on Oct. 11 at 10 a.m.
