Kent State Closes Out Non-League Play at Eastern Kentucky On Friday

The Golden Flashes looks to snap a three game losing streak as they complete the non-league portion of their schedule this Friday. In the final tune-up before Mid-American Conference play starts next week, KSU travel to Eastern Kentucky to face the Colonials.
Last Time Out
Kent State fell to 1-4 on the road this year after enduring its third straight shutout at the hands of Michigan State on Sunday.
Tracking EKU
The Colonials return home after a five game road trip that included stops in Northeast Ohio at Akron and at Cleveland State last weekend. KSU lost both games falling 2-1 to the Zips on Friday before a 1-0 loss to the Vikings on Sunday.
The Good News
Junior Catharine Marosszeky, has accounted for two of the Golden Flashes' four goals this season, including the game winner in overtime vs SIU-Edwardsville. The 2007 All-MAC selection now has 12 career goals, including six game-winners.
The Bad News
The Golden Flashes have scored only four goals in six games this season. Kent State will look to break through on offense against an EKU team that is allowing 0.79 goals per game (five goals / six games) this season.
Sherwood In Goal
With injuries to senior Kris Nelson, Redshirt freshman Kelly Sherwood has taken over in goal for KSU the past two games. After the duo shared time goal the first four games, Sherwood has played the last180 minutes
In four games this year she has made 15 saves and has a 1.40 goals against average.
Seten's Mark of Consistency
Senior Cassie Seten has been a mark of consistency in the KSU line-up the past four seasons. Seten is the program's active leader in games played (67) and has now made 42 consecutive starts.
Counting Down to 100
The Golden Flashes are just three victories away from 100 wins in program history. Kent State owns a 97-100-21 all-time record in the 12 year history of the program.
A Different Count Down to 100
The Oct. 10 game against Central Michigan marks the 100th home game at the KSU Soccer Field for the Golden Flashes. Home to the program the inception in 1997, Kent State has gone 60-33-4 (.639) at home.
Nelson Tops 150, Moves into fourth Place In Career Saves
Senior goalie, Kris Nelson, who made her 150th career save against Wright State earlier this season, moved into fourth place on the Kent State career saves list. Nelson moved ahead of Angela Snow (1998) on Sunday vs USF when she made a season high six saves in the 1-0 decision.
Marosszeky NCAA SAAC representative
Junior Catharine Marosszeky has been selected by the NCAA to serve on the National Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) as the Mid-American Conference representative.
Marosszeky will serve as SAAC President at Kent State for the 2008-09 school year.

Kent State is coached by Rob Marinaro (Clemson '92). Now in his eighth season as the head coach- and 12th overall with the program, Marinaro has compiled a 63-62-17 overall record. He was named the MAC Coach of the Year in both 2003 and 2004.
