MAC Honors Heaton As Player Of The Week

Sophomore helped lead KSU to a 2-0-0 weekend
CLEVELAND, Ohio - After recording two goals and two assists in the Golden Flashes 2-0-0 weekend, the Mid-American Conference honor Kent State sophomore Kelly Heaton (Mississauga, Ontario / Our Lady-Mt. Carmel) as the Women's Soccer Player Of The Week.
Heaton earns the honor following her six point performance this past weekend which led the Golden Flashes to a pair of wins moved the team into a first place tie atop the MAC standings.
On Friday against Ohio she assisted on the game winning goal by junior Jackie Barath (Strongsville, Ohio / Strongsville) with a well placed corner kick. She followed up her performance on Sunday against Akron with two goals and an assist to give Kent State is 100th win in program history. After staking KSU to a 1-0 lead with a goal early in the game, she assisted on what proved to be the game winning goal by sophomore Annie Messer (Dayton, Ohio / West Carrollton) before capping off her weekend with her third goal of the season in the closing minutes.
Heaton leads Kent State with eight total points this season, producing three goals and two assists.
Winners of three straight, the Golden Flashes return to action on Friday at Miami.
