Gymnastics Signs Two for 2010-2011 Season

KENT, Ohio - Kent State head coach Brice Biggin is pleased to announce Monday (Nov. 16) the signing of two gymnasts for the 2009-2010 The Golden Flashes received national letters from Marie Case (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prepatory) and Danielle “Nikki” Moore (Westerville, Ohio/Columbus St. Francis DeSales).
Marie Case hails from Lakettes Gymnastics in Erie, Pa. She was a Junior Olympic qualifier after a floor championship and a fourth place in the all-around at Level 10 Nationals in 2009.
"With Marie coming from Lakettes, we are very comfortable with the high expectations we have for her already,” said Biggin. “Lakettes produced former stand out Kent State flash Rachel Stuck and we expect nothing less than that from Marie. Marie is someone with such a high talent level on all four events that we expect her to have an immediate impact on our team, and hopefully help us climb to the next level of success on a national scale. We look for big things to come from this young lady."
Nikki Moore comes to Kent State from the Buckeyes Gymnastic gymnasium and Columbus St. Francis DeSales High School in Columbus, Ohio. In 2009, Moore was an Ohio High School State Champion in the all-around. She also placed second in the all-around at regionals to qualify for the national Level 10 Meet, where she placed 13th in the same event.
“We are very excited to have signed such a talented young lady in our own home state,” said Biggin. “Nikki has proven to be a great competitor in the state of Ohio, winning the state championships and it is always a good feeling to keep that talent close to home. Buckeye has a great reputation of creating solid gymnasts that continue to be successful in college. We feel with her talent level she should be able to step in and compete on a few events next year. "
The Kent State gymnastics team kicks off the 2009-2010 season when it competes in its annual Blue and Gold Intrasquad Meet Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. The team kicks off the regular season Jan. 16, 2010 when it travels to Pittsburgh for a tri-meet with Pittsburgh and West Virginia.
