Kittelberger Participates in NFHCA Senior All-Star Game

KSU senior midfielder one of 38 participants

KENT, Ohio — Kent State senior Allison Kittelnerger (Webster, N.Y. / Schroeder) traveled to Winston-Salem, N.C. this past weekend for the 2009 NFHCA Division I Senior All-Star Game. Held at Wake Forest University's Kentner Stadium, Kittelberger was one of 38 seniors from around the country to compete in the game.

“It was a great experience for me to get the opportunity to compete with and against some of the other top players from around the country,” said Kittelberger.

The format for the games included four 25-minute sessions, as the two all-star groups will face each other twice and each side will also take on Team USA. Kittelberger's team fared well against the national team playing them to a 0-0 tie.

“Not too many people get to say that they played against the national team,” said the three-time All-Mid-American Conference selection. “It was a little nerve racking at first because they had been practicing with each other for the past couple of year and our team had just met each five minutes ago.”

After scoring two goals and nine assists in her final season with the Golden Flashes this fall, the game was an opportunity for Kittelberger to take the field again.

“My sister came down to watch me play and she said I did pretty well,” said Kittelberger. “It was a lot of fun to get back out there on the field. I met a lot of great people and I am really glad I had the opportunity to attend.”

The Golden Flashes won a share of the MAC Regular season title for a second consecutive year in 2009 with a 12-8 overall record and an 8-2 mark in the league.
