CLEVELAND, Ohio - Kent State junior right-hander Kylie Reynolds (Greensboro, Ga./Morgan County) earned the Mid-American Conference's first East Division Pitcher of the Week of the season on Tuesday (Feb. 10). Reynolds tossed three complete game shutouts at the Stetson Leadoff Classic, including a nine-inning no-hitter in the title game against Stetson.
In the championship game, she struck out a Kent State record 18 batters. Reynolds also had a nine-inning shutout in her first start of the weekend against Stetson, allowing just two hits. In addition, she allowed only two hits in a shutout of Texas State on Saturday.
Reynolds struck out more than half the batters she faced on the weekend (47-of-91). She tossed a total of 26 innings in three days without allowing a run. Reynolds permitted just four total hits, two on Friday and two on Saturday.
The two-time MAC Pitcher of the Year's 18 strikeouts on Sunday broke her own school record of 17, which she set twice as a freshman. She is 3-0 in three starts this season and has not lost a regular season start since March 28, 2008 against Georgia.
Reynolds ran her career victory total to 42, which ranks sixth among Kent State's career leaders. She also moved into second place among KSU's career strikeout leaders with 581, passing Kate Leary (2001-04) over the weekend. Reynolds won five MAC East Pitcher of the Week awards last season and three as a freshman.
The Golden Flashes (4-1) will play another five games over three days this weekend at Arizona State's Littlewood Classic. On Saturday, Kent State will take on the defending antional champion Sun Devils.
