Flashes Heading to United Kingdom for Spring Break

KENT, Ohio - As Kent State University begins its annual mid-semester break from classes, its entire field hockey team will depart for an eight-night trip to the United Kingdom. The Golden Flashes will compete in friendly games with three different club teams and visit numerous tourist attractions throughout England and Wales.
Sightseeing during the trip will include stops at Windsor Castle, Stonehenge, Warwick Castle, Stratford-upon-Avon, Bath's Roman Pump Rooms, Brecon Beacons National Park and touring through the cities of Cardiff, Oxford and London. Throughout their trip, Kent State players will write about their daily experiences, which can be read on www.kentstatesports.com
The Golden Flashes will take on Swansea Hockey Club on Monday, March 23 and Cannock Hockey Club on Wednesday, March 25, both of the England National Hockey League. Swansea's squad is made up of many Welsh international players, ranging from U18 to seniors and Cannock's roster includes a player from the Great Britain's 2008 Olympic Team. KSU will play its final game on Saturday, March 28 with Bracknell, a club team just outside of London.
The KSU squad will attend a men's National League field hockey game on Sunday, March 22 and will practice with professional English clinician Phil Gooderham on Tuesday, March 24. The team will return to Ohio on Sunday, March 29.
