Four Kent State Gymnasts Named to Academic All-MAC Team

CLEVELAND Familiar faces and one newcomer make up the quartet of the Golden Flash contingent on the 2009 Academic All-Mid-American Conference Gymnastics Team released by the conference offices on Wednesday (April 15).
To be nominated, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award. Outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments from the current season only are considered.
Senior Rachel Stuck and junior Lydia Barrett were both on the academic list for the third-straight season. Barrett has an overall GPA of 3.83 while Stuck has a GPA of 3.62. At the 2009 MAC Championships, Barrett shared the title on floor with senior Laci Hendress with a score of 9.850. Hendress was also named the All-MAC academic team for the second straight year with a 3.86 GPA.
Making her first appearance on the conference academic team was junior Brittany Kopp. Kopp has an overall GPA of 3.96.
