The Gymnastics team, currently ranked #22 nationally, travels to Columbus, Ohio to compete at the 2009 NCAA Division I Central Region Championships at the St. John Arena at Ohio State University beginning at 6 p.m. on Saturday (4/4).
Kent State enter this weekend's competition after winning its second consecutive Mid-American Conference Championship with a total of 194.500 points at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana (3/21). That title was also the Golden Flashes' 11th conference championship in gymnastics which is the most in MAC history.
KSU will be without the services of senior Laci Hendress (Wolcott, In./Tri County) who suffered an injury in preparation for the Central Regionals. Hendress and junior Lydia Barrett (Rochester, N.Y./Penfield) were crowned MAC Champions on floor at the conference championships.
Head Coach Brice Biggin has led Kent State to regional competition for the 14th time in his 18 season at the helm of the Golden Flashes. KSU's best finish at regional competition under Biggin's tutelage is second, which the Flashes have accomplished on three occasions.
