Brivule, Paskert Named Second Team All-MAC

CLEVELAND -- Kent State sophomore Meredith Paskert (Brecksville, Ohio) and Liva Brivule (Riga, Latvia) have been named Second Team All-Mid-American Conference, the conference office announced.
This marks the second straight season Paskert has received postseason honors, earning selection to the All-MAC Freshman Team in 2009.
Brivule started 30 of Kent State's 32 matches. She led the team with 413 kills, 22 service aces and 114 total blocks. She ranked fifth in the conference in kills per set (3.39), fifth in blocks per set (0.93) and fourth in points per set (4.08). She reached double figures in kills 25 times -- including 16 straight times. She piled up 20 or more kills five times, with a season-best 24 at Miami on Oct. 8.
Paskert appeared in all 32 of the Golden Flashes' matches, making 22 starts. She finished the season second on the squad with 342 kills (2.87 per set), 394.5 points and a .264 attack percentage. Paskert recorded double digits in kills 22 times, including a season-best 24 kills against Northern Illinois on Oct. 22.
The Golden Flashes wrapped up 2010 with a 13-19 overall mark with a 6-10 record in MAC play.
