Women's Basketball Ranked 25th in Women's Mid-Major Poll

KENT, Ohio – The Kent State women's basketball team (6-1) received its first national ranking from the collegeinsider.com Women's Mid-Major poll for the week of Dec. 7. The Golden Flashes were ranked 25th among the nation's mid-major programs.
It didn't take long for the Golden Flashes to move into the mid-major poll, which is in its inaugural season. A six-game winning streak to start the season, which was the best in program history, helped vault Kent State into the top 25. Kent State's lone blemish is from an overtime loss at Saint Francis (Pa.) Dec. 4.
The Mid-Major Poll is made up of teams from the following conferences: America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Great West, Horizon, Independents, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt, West Coast.
Fellow Mid-American Conference schools Bowling Green (second), Central Michigan (22nd) and Toledo (24th) are also among the top 25. Northern Illinois is receiving votes.
Green Bay (8-0) remained the top team in the poll for the second straight week, garnering 30 of a possible 31 first-place votes. Bowling Green (8-1) received the other first-place vote.
