CLEVELAND - A person only gets one chance at a first impression, and junior Danielle Durbin made sure it was one that will not be soon forgotten by the Kent State faithful.
Junior Christine Abou-Mitri and Durbin were named MAC Gymnast and Specialist of the Week, respectively, for their performances this past weekend in Kent State's annual "Flip for the Cure" meet. Durbin, who went second on floor for the Golden Flashes in the final rotation, wowed the crowd with a 9.825 in her first performance with the Golden Flashes. After the routine, Durbin was in first place with four KSU gymnasts left to compete. She placed fourth when three of the four remaining gymnasts posted 2010 season-best on the event.
Abou-Mitri, who was also named MAC Gymnast of the Week on Feb. 2, won the award by recording the eighth best all-around total in school history at 39.375. She won on every event with season-best marks on bars and beam (9.850) and a career-high 9.900 on floor.
She tied with junior teammate Christina Lenny with a 9.775 on vault.

Kent State looks to improve to 4-0 in the MAC Sunday when it travels to Muncie, Ind. to take on Ball State. First rotation is set for 1 p.m. against the Cardinals.
