Kurtz Named P.A. Announcer of the Year

KENT, Ohio -- The National Association of Sports Public Address Announcers (NASPAA) has named Jeff Kurtz, who serves as the sports public address announcer at Kent State University, its 2009-2010 NCAA P.A. Announcer of the Year. The NASPAA P.A. Announcer of the Years Awards Program provides an opportunity for high school, junior college, NAIA and NCAA P.A. announcers to be recognized.

Kurtz has been announcing at Kent State for 30 years, handling nine sports for both men's and women's teams. In addition, for has served as P.A. announcer for the Mid-American Conference Basketball Tournament for 18 years, and has also announced at 25 other MAC championships. Kurtz also does press box announcing for the Cleveland Browns and at the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game. Kurtz is the athletic director at Hudson (OH) Middle School. His high school announcing resume includes numerous Ohio state championships and playoffs.

Kurtz will be conducting a football P.A. announcers' clinic on behalf of the NASPAA on August 14, 2010 at Hudson High School from 9:00 a.m. - noon. Information about the clinic may be obtained at www.naspaa.net.
