Football Team Defeats Iowa State to Kick Off 2007 Season
The football team opened its 2007 season with a 23-14 win at Iowa State. It was Kent State's first win over a Bowl Championship Series team since the 1987 win over Kansas.
Junior quarterback Julian Edelman started for Kent State, and sophomore running back Eugene Jarvis rushed for 113 yards and a touchdown. Senior defensive back Jack Williams led the defense with 12 tackles.
After a disappointing end to the previous season, the Flashes' season opener win showed they were determined to be a better team.
